InDesign Server

Adobe InDesign Server is a server-based version of Adobe's InDesign software for creating and publishing documents such as brochures, magazines, and books. It enables users to automate the creation and management of large volumes of personalized documents and integrates with other systems such as databases and workflow systems. It is also capable of producing and publishing interactive PDFs, eBooks, and digital magazines. It is primarily used by businesses and organizations that must regularly create and distribute large numbers of documents.

InDesign Server is compatible with Windows and Mac operating systems.

InDesign Server includes a number of developer interfaces for automating and customizing the document creation process. These are some examples:

  • JavaScript API: allows developers to create scripts that can automate tasks such as document creation, data import, and formatting.
  • SOAP Web Services: allows developers to create web-based applications that can interact with InDesign Server via the SOAP protocol.
  • Command-line Interface: allows developers to automate tasks such as document creation and conversion using command-line scripts.
  • InDesign Plug-ins: developers can create plug-ins using C++ or ExtendScript that add functionality to InDesign.
  • XML API: allows developers to create and manipulate InDesign documents in XML format.
  • Java API: allows developers to create Java applications that can interact with InDesign Server and automate tasks such as document creation, data import, and formatting.
